PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

Minutes of the Special Meeting of the President Pro - Tem and Board of Trustees of the Village of Stanford, held at the Stanford Village Hall at 6:00pm.

The Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by President Pro- Tem Geurts.

1.  ROLL CALL: Present: 6 - President Pro - Tem Geurts, Trustees Johnalee Awles, Ben Chase, Natasha Owen, Nydra Owen and Rowana Robles.

Also present: Attorney Mark McGrath, Treasurer Carrie Jassman, State Representative Keith Sommer and Christina Rogers assistant to US Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson.

2.  NEW BUSINESS:

A. Trustee Alwes gave a power point presentation on the following decaying buildings:  The Village Hall, Police Station and Maintenance Building.

6:15 pm - The Board of Trustees took the representatives on a walking tour of the community showing them the decaying buildings, possible new building sites, problem drainage areas and spoke to them about the proposed sewer system.

7:08 pm - Returned to the Village Hall.

President Pro-Tem Geurts asked the representatives what the next step for the Village would be to possibly obtain any grant monies. The representatives advised the board to get a firm figure of new building costs, local match percentage, look into bonds the Village has. Christina Rogers stated she will start looking into Federal Assistance and would advise of any leads.

210 S. Division is in need of a new septic system and does not have the yard space to put a field bed. Brian Coulter, the owner, has come to the Board requesting a variance for 10' of our right of way on School Street but we could not sell because of having to appraise the property and put it up for a bid sale. The next option would be for him to hook up a sand filter system to the Village tile on School Street.

The consensus of the Board was to table the matter until the September 17, 2009 meeting when more information from the Health Department and Williamson Farm Drainage can be presented.

3. MOTION TO ADJOURN @ 7:54PM

There was no further business to come before the Board. Trustee Nydra Owen moved, seconded by Trustee Chase to adjourn. Motion carried.
